The entire BMW 7-Series lineup of sedans carries into 2012 with no significant changes. Last year, BMW's xDrive all-wheel drive system was offered for the first time in the 7-Series, on the 750i and 750Li models, and 6-cylinder engines came back to the 7-Series in the new 740i and 740iL. 2012 also marked the comeback of the high-performance Alpina B7.

Redesigned in 2010, the BMW 7 Series is currently offered in the largest selection of model configurations in the vehicles history. For 2012, four powerplants, two wheelbases and the choice of rear wheel or BMWs xDrive all-wheel drive defines the BMW 7 Series sedan. Powered with a 3-liter six-cylinder sending 315 horsepower through a 6-speed automatic, the entry line 2012 BMW 740i includes rearview camera, Dynamic Damping Control, cruise control, two-way power moonroof and a hard drive-based navigation system.

The 7-Series is BMW's technology flagship, and by most measures it's the most luxurious model in the German automaker's lineup. And with a wide range of powertrain possibilities, along with standard and long-wheelbase versions--including greener ActiveHybrid and high-performance Alpina models. Even at its simplest, the 740i is one of the most athletic-feeling large sport sedans, while well-optioned 750 and 760 models offer some of the world's leading convenience and accident-avoidance technology.
